Nice's Promenade des Anglais stretches 7 km along the Baie des Anges, a seafront boulevard first laid out in 1822 by the city's English winter residents. The old town, Vieux-Nice, is a maze of narrow lanes opening onto Cours Saleya, home to a daily flower and produce market that has traded since the early 19th century. From Place Garibaldi you can walk up to Colline du Château for panoramic views across the port and coastline. Art lovers will find the Musée Matisse set within a 17th-century Genoese villa in the Cimiez neighbourhood, while the Musée Marc Chagall houses the largest public collection of the artist's biblical works. Antibes sits just 26 km to the south-west, and the hilltop village of Èze is only 12 km along the Grande Corniche, one of the most scenic coastal drives in southern France. The roads around Nice wind through hills and along cliff edges, so a compact campervan is ideal for exploring the area at your own pace. With Yescapa, you hire directly from local owners across the Côte d'Azur, which means you can collect a motorhome or campervan close to the city and set off without delay. Peer-to-peer hire also gives you access to a wider choice of vehicles, from two-berth vans to larger family layouts, all at prices set by the people who know Nice best.
Nice enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate, making it a rewarding destination in every season. The Nice Carnival, one of the world's largest, fills the city with parades and flower battles each February. Summer brings the Nice Jazz Festival in July, perfect for combining live music with coastal campervan touring. Spring and autumn are ideal for quieter roads and easier campsite availability along the Riviera. Book your Yescapa motorhome early for July and August, the most popular months, when local owners list a wide range of vehicles. Outside peak season, peer-to-peer hire through Yescapa often means more competitive prices and greater flexibility on pick-up dates.
Nice is the perfect base for exploring the region by motorhome or campervan. Here are our 6 must-see getaways
Head 50 km south-west from Nice along the coastal Corniche de l'Estérel, where red porphyry cliffs meet the sea. Stop at the Calanques de l'Estérel for a swim and explore the old harbour at Fréjus. Campervan parking is available near Saint-Raphaël's seafront.
This 160 km route west takes you through Aix-en-Provence, with its elegant cours Mirabeau, before reaching Marseille's Vieux-Port and the Calanques National Park. Allow time to explore Cassis and its clifftop trails. Motorhome service areas are well spaced along the A8.
Drive 200 km north from Nice into the lavender fields around Valensole and the turquoise waters of the Gorges du Verdon. Visit Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, a village perched beneath limestone cliffs. Campervan aires dot the plateau, offering peaceful overnight stops.
Just 20 km east along the Basse Corniche, this short trip lets you visit the Oceanographic Museum and the Prince's Palace in Monaco-Ville. Stop in Villefranche-sur-Mer for its colourful waterfront. Parking for larger vehicles is limited, so arrive early in the day.
Cover 300 km north-west through Provence and the Rhône Valley. Break the journey at Orange to see the Roman theatre, then continue to Montélimar for nougat tasting. Lyon's Presqu'île and Vieux Lyon are well worth two days. Campervan aires are plentiful along the route.
Head 85 km north-east from Nice into the alpine scenery of Mercantour. Hike the Vallée des Merveilles to see Bronze Age rock engravings, and explore the village of Saint-Martin-Vésubie. Mountain roads are narrow, so a compact motorhome is the best choice here.

Nice and the surrounding Côte d'Azur offer a good selection of campsites suited to both campervans and motorhomes. Most sites provide electric hook-ups, fresh water, waste disposal points, and modern shower and toilet blocks. Several are set close to the coast, giving you easy access to beaches, while others sit in the wooded hills just inland. Booking ahead is recommended during summer to secure a pitch with full facilities near Nice.
Parking a larger vehicle in Nice requires a bit of planning, as many central streets are narrow and height-restricted. Several car parks near the port and seafront accept motorhomes and campervans, though height barriers vary so check before entering. Overnight parking on public roads is generally tolerated outside restricted zones, but always look for signage. A dedicated motorhome aire on the eastern edge of the city offers services and overnight stays.
Had a wonderful trip! With Thibault’s guidance, you're in safe hands. This compact and comfortable van packs a big punch while remaining extremely easy to drive and park. I highly recommend this van and owner combo!
First let me say that Ricardo is a great owner, he was very good at explaining everything to us, gave advice on the trip and was always available to answer any questions we had. He even was understanding of our delayed return. 5/5 The van is as described in the ad, working perfectely, comfortable to drive worh all the amenities one would need in a van. We traveled all around portugal and overall enjoyed our time bery much. Definitely recommend.
Absolutely loved staying in Alfreds campervan. The decor was beautiful. It had everything we needed, a perfect space for two people for time in nature travelling. It was so good having a fridge on the road. He answered any questions I had and the pick up/ drop off was great. Would definitely love to rent it again in the future when we come back to Spain. Thank you!
Patrick was very friendly and went above and beyond his duty to make sure everything went smoothly. He even took us to the station after we dropped the van off. We would highly recommend him.
Foi tudo ótimo! Desde a efetivação do aluguer até ao momento da devolução e ainda depois.
Communication with Guillaume the owner was excellent. Always available to answer questions and give advice about travel destinations. The campervan was a perfect size for our first experience of this type of holiday. We used sites for our 7 night travel experience which worked well with electric/topping up water etc. Overall a great experience and would use this owner again.
