Donostia-San Sebastián sits on the Bay of Biscay, framed by Monte Urgull and Monte Igueldo at either end of its famous shell-shaped La Concha beach, which stretches for roughly 1,350 metres along the city's waterfront. The old quarter, Parte Vieja, packs in more pintxo bars per square metre than almost anywhere else in Spain, and the city holds three Michelin-starred restaurants, making it a genuine culinary capital. Stroll along the Paseo Nuevo promenade to the Aquarium of San Sebastián, then cross the river to the Kursaal Congress Centre, whose two glass cubes designed by Rafael Moneo have become an icon of modern Basque architecture. For panoramic views, ride the Funicular de Igueldo up to the Parque de Atracciones Monte Igueldo, an amusement park that has been running since 1912. Bilbao is just 100 km to the west, while the French border town of Hendaye lies only 20 km to the north-east, making Donostia an ideal base for cross-border day trips. The coastal roads here wind between green hills and sandy coves, well suited to campervan touring at a relaxed pace. A motorhome gives you the freedom to follow the Basque coastline without fixed schedules. Through Yescapa, you hire directly from local owners in and around Donostia, which means personal tips on the best routes, flexible pick-up points, and competitive pricing compared with traditional hire depots.
Donostia comes alive in July and August, when warm weather draws visitors to La Concha beach and the Jazzaldia jazz festival fills outdoor stages across the city. September brings the San Sebastián International Film Festival, one of Europe's most prestigious, and campervan travellers benefit from slightly quieter roads and campsites. Spring, from April to June, offers mild temperatures ideal for coastal drives and pintxo crawls without the summer crowds. Through Yescapa, you can hire a campervan from local owners year-round, often at friendlier rates outside peak season. Book a few weeks ahead for summer to secure the best choice of vehicles in Donostia.

The area around Donostia offers a fine selection of campsites along the Basque coast and in nearby valleys. Most sites provide full hook-ups, modern shower blocks, and dedicated pitches for both campervans and motorhomes. Several are within walking distance of beaches, so you can park up and explore on foot. Whether you prefer a seaside spot with ocean views or a quieter inland setting near Donostia, you will find well-maintained facilities and helpful on-site staff.
Parking a larger vehicle in Donostia requires a bit of planning, as the old town streets are narrow and restricted. Several car parks on the city's outskirts accept motorhomes and campervans, though height barriers apply at some underground facilities. Overnight sleeping in your vehicle is not permitted within the city centre, so use a designated campsite or motorhome area instead. Arrive early during summer weekends to secure a space near the beach zones.
We went for a 7 days trip with 2 of my friends. It was an amazing time. Camper was really great - in a good condition, clean, comfortable. We did 1000km without any problems. I can recommend this car and Alvaro as a very nice owner.
1st time we have hired a Motorhome, Sandrine was a joy to hire from, answered all of our questions as newbies. She couldn't make hiring their MH any easier, Their Motor home was in perfect condition we had the unlimited Km's option and the vehicle never missed a beat over the long distances we drove, Highly recommend Hiring from Sandrine 5 Star !!
