Corsica's GR20 trail stretches 180 km across the island's mountainous spine, widely regarded as one of Europe's most demanding long-distance footpaths. Yet this French island in the Mediterranean offers far more than hiking — from the red granite Calanques de Piana to the ancient citadel of Bonifacio perched on white limestone cliffs, every turn reveals a new landscape. The drive from Bastia in the north to Ajaccio in the south covers roughly 150 km, while the coastal road from Porto to Calvi winds for about 80 km through some of the island's most dramatic scenery. Corsica's interior is defined by rugged peaks, chestnut forests and winding mountain passes, making it a rewarding destination for campervan travel at a relaxed pace. Coastal plains give way to narrow roads that climb through villages like Corte, the island's historic capital, and past the Restonica Gorge with its glacial pools. Whether you fancy swimming in turquoise coves near Palombaggia beach or exploring the Désert des Agriates, a wild stretch of untouched maquis scrubland, Corsica packs extraordinary variety into a compact area. With Yescapa, you hire your motorhome or campervan directly from local owners across the island, giving you the flexibility to collect your vehicle in Ajaccio, Bastia or Porto-Vecchio and set off on your own Corsican adventure.
May to October is the prime window for a campervan trip around Corsica, with June and September offering warm seas and quieter roads. The island's peak season runs from mid-July through August, so booking your Yescapa hire early for those months is a smart move. In April, the Fête du Citron celebrations bring colour to the island's spring calendar, while September's Festiventu wind festival in Calvi draws music and culture lovers. Corsica's mountain passes, particularly the Col de Bavella, can see snow closures from late November to April, so plan inland routes accordingly. Shoulder months reward you with lower peer-to-peer prices on Yescapa and plenty of available pitches at campsites across the island.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
This 350 km loop follows Corsica's eastern and western shores, linking Bastia, Porto-Vecchio and Ajaccio. You'll pass sandy beaches, the Calanques de Piana and lively harbour towns. Ideal for a campervan with plenty of coastal campsites along the way.
A 280 km route through Corsica's rugged interior, from Corte to the Col de Bavella and on to Vizzavona forest. Mountain passes and chestnut groves set the scene. Best suited to smaller campervans — roads are narrow but rewarding.
Cover 550 km and see the full island, from Cap Corse's windswept tip to Bonifacio's clifftop citadel. Stop at Calvi, Porto, Ajaccio and Porto-Vecchio along the way. A motorhome with good storage makes this extended Corsica circuit comfortable.
This 120 km stretch between Ajaccio and Calvi hugs Corsica's dramatic western coastline. Highlights include the Scandola Nature Reserve and the red rocks of Piana. Take your time — the winding roads reward a slow pace in a campervan.
A 150 km loop around Corsica's northern peninsula, starting and ending in Bastia. Visit Erbalunga, Centuri's fishing port and the Moulin Mattei viewpoint. Compact enough for a motorhome, with scenic wild camping spots near the coast.
Just 90 km from Porto-Vecchio to Bonifacio and back via Corsica's southern beaches. Palombaggia and Santa Giulia are perfect swimming stops. A short, relaxed route well suited to a campervan — ideal if you're short on time.

Corsica offers a wide choice of campsites spread from the northern cape to the southern cliffs, with pitches for both campervans and motorhomes. Coastal sites give you direct beach access and sea views, while inland options sit among pine and chestnut forests with mountain backdrops. Most sites on the island provide electrical hook-ups, modern shower blocks and dedicated motorhome service points for fresh water and waste disposal.
Corsica has no motorways — the island's main roads are national routes (RN) and territorial roads (RT). There are no toll roads anywhere on the island, so you can travel freely without extra charges. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are generally 80 km/h on open roads and 50 km/h in built-up areas. Many routes are narrow and winding, particularly the mountain passes like the Col de Bavella and Col de Vergio, so allow extra time and watch for width restrictions. Larger vehicles should take care on the D81 coast road between Porto and Calvi, where tight bends and narrow sections are common. Rest areas with parking suitable for campervans are found along the main RN193 and RN196 corridors.
Great experience renting the Jimny. The owners were brilliant to deal with from start to finish, and the Jeep was in excellent condition. It was perfect for exploring the Algarve. Would definitely recommend and would happily rent from them again!
Clean, well-maintained vehicle that gave us so many great memories! We traveled to many places and drove around 900 km ourselves, and it handled everything flawlessly. Thanks to its size, parking was super easy, we could fit anywhere, and we were able to sleep in spots where a different kind of campervan wouldn't have worked. It is fully equipped with everything provided, even extra games for beach days! The bed and bedding were clean, and it has a really comfortable mattress. The owners were super nice and sweet. Everything went smoothly during both pickup and drop-off, and they were always there to help whenever we needed it, even when we got a bit lost! 😅 Plus point that they were super cool and easy to talk to. P.S. The AC works like a charm!
Sergey's van is great. Really spacious, easy to drive. We had a great trip. Sergey was really nice helpful and was on hand to help with any questions during the trip. He even gave us a lift to the train station in Ljubljana! Would 100% recommend.
This lovely family took great care of Dolly the week they rented her. I can recommend to rent your van. Friendly and easy communication as well. 😀
The best experience ever!! Amazing van and amazing people who run it
Muchas gracias. Gary y Michelle
