The Brussels-Capital Region packs an extraordinary density of culture into just 161 square kilometres, making it one of Europe's most compact yet rewarding destinations for a touring holiday. From the iconic Atomium, built for the 1958 World Expo, to the Gothic grandeur of the Cathedral of St Michael and St Gudula, every neighbourhood tells a different story. The Grand Place, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, sits at the heart of the city, while the sprawling Parc du Cinquantenaire offers green space, triumphal arches and three museums in one location. Head south-east and within 20 km you reach the Forêt de Soignes, a beech woodland ideal for a peaceful walk before driving on. Brussels to Bruges is roughly 100 km, and Brussels to the Ardennes town of Dinant is about 95 km, so the region works brilliantly as a base for wider Belgian adventures. Roads are well-maintained and largely toll-free, which suits both campervans and larger motorhomes. Street food culture thrives here — think crispy frites, waffles and praline chocolate shops on every corner. With Yescapa, you hire your campervan directly from local owners across the Brussels-Capital Region, giving you flexible pick-up options and a personal touch that makes planning your trip straightforward and enjoyable.
The Brussels-Capital Region is a year-round destination, though May to September brings the warmest weather and longest days for exploring by campervan. In July, the Ommegang pageant recreates a Renaissance procession through the Grand Place, while December's Winter Wonders festival fills the city centre with festive markets and an ice rink. Spring and autumn offer quieter roads and easier parking for motorhomes. Book early for summer through Yescapa, where peer-to-peer pricing often undercuts traditional hire companies, and you can secure a vehicle from a local owner well ahead of the busiest months.

The Brussels-Capital Region and its surrounding area offer a handful of well-placed campsites that make an excellent base for exploring the city and wider Belgium. Most sites provide electric hook-ups, clean shower blocks and dedicated pitches for both campervans and motorhomes. Several are set in green, semi-rural locations just a short drive from the centre, giving you easy access to Brussels' attractions without the bustle of city parking.
Belgium's motorways are toll-free for all vehicles, including motorhomes and campervans, so you can travel freely around the Brussels-Capital Region without worrying about vignettes or toll booths. The Ring (R0) circles the region and connects to the E40, E19 and E411 for quick access to Flanders, Wallonia and beyond. Speed limits for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are 90 km/h on motorways and 50 km/h in built-up areas. Belgian motorways are well lit at night, and rest areas with services appear at regular intervals. Keep an eye on low-emission zone rules within central Brussels — registration is required for foreign vehicles.

Beyond happy with the whole experience. The motorhome was very comfy and had everything we needed for our little girls camping trip. More importantly the owners were extremely friendly and beyond helpful at all times with the vehicle, the routes, the airport pickups and dropp offs and many many more things! All and all very happy with this experience!

We really enjoyed our travels around Brittany in Clarisse's camper van. It was comfortable and easy to drive and had everything we needed for our holiday. Clarisse explained everything clearly to us before we set off.
