From sleek A-class models to versatile coachbuilts and low-profiles, there’s a motorhome for every adventure—whether you need a compact getaway for two or a spacious multi-berth for the whole family.
The campervan is the ultimate all-rounder. Effortlessly practical and built for freedom, it’s just as at home navigating tight city streets as it is exploring the heart of the countryside.
Bavaria is home to Germany's highest peak, the Zugspitze, standing at 2,962 metres and drawing visitors year-round to the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen at its base. From the fairy-tale turrets of Neuschwanstein Castle near Füssen to the baroque grandeur of the Würzburg Residence, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this south-eastern region packs centuries of history into every valley. Munich to Berchtesgaden is roughly 155 km, while the drive from Nuremberg to Regensburg covers about 110 km — both routes winding through rolling farmland, dense forests and Alpine foothills that make every kilometre enjoyable from behind the wheel. The Bavarian Alps define the southern border, with well-maintained mountain passes and scenic lakeside roads around Chiemsee and Königssee perfectly suited to campervan travel. Further north, Franconia offers gentler terrain, half-timbered towns like Rothenburg ob der Tauber, and quieter roads ideal for larger motorhome set-ups. With Yescapa, you hire directly from local owners spread right across Bavaria — from Munich and Augsburg to smaller towns in the Bavarian Forest — giving you the flexibility to start your trip wherever it suits you. Whether you fancy a compact campervan for Alpine lanes or a fully equipped motorhome for a family tour, the peer-to-peer model means more choice and often better value than traditional hire.
Bavaria's campervan season runs from late April through to October, with June to September offering the warmest weather and the longest daylight hours for exploring. The Munich Oktoberfest, which actually begins in mid-September, is a brilliant reason to book a motorhome trip — you can park up outside the city and avoid pricey hotel rooms. In December, Nuremberg's famous Christkindlesmarkt transforms the old town into a winter wonderland worth a short off-season tour. Yescapa's peer-to-peer pricing often means lower rates in spring and autumn, so shoulder-season trips through the Alps or along the Romantic Road can be especially good value. Book summer dates early, as Bavaria is one of Germany's most popular touring regions.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
This 180 km loop from Füssen takes you past Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles before circling through the Ammergau Alps to Oberammergau and Linderhof Palace. Ideal for a compact campervan, with well-placed campsites along the route.
Wind through 250 km of limestone cliffs, cave systems and hilltop ruins between Bamberg and Bayreuth. Franconian Switzerland's narrow valleys suit campervans perfectly, and you can stop at local breweries — the region has one of the highest brewery densities in the world.
Covering 420 km from Würzburg to Füssen, Bavaria's most famous route passes through Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Dinkelsbühl and Augsburg. Allow five to eight days in a motorhome to enjoy medieval town centres and vineyard-lined hills at a relaxed pace.
Stretching 350 km from Lindau on Lake Constance to Berchtesgaden, this route hugs the Alps through Oberstdorf, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the Tegernsee valley. Mountain campsites offer electric hook-ups and spectacular views — perfect for both campervans and motorhomes.
This 550 km circuit links Munich, Regensburg and Passau before looping south through the Bavarian Forest. Over seven to eleven days you can explore Danube-side towns, dense woodland trails and traditional glass-blowing villages — a great motorhome-friendly route with spacious campsites.
A 600 km grand tour connecting Chiemsee, Königssee, Starnberger See and Walchensee with Alpine passes in between. Over ten to fifteen days you can swim, hike and cycle your way across Bavaria's lake district — campervan stopovers are plentiful along the shore roads.

Bavaria offers a wide network of campsites stretching from the Alpine foothills in the south to the forested hills of Franconia in the north. Most sites provide full-service pitches with electric hook-ups, fresh water, waste disposal and modern shower blocks suitable for both campervans and motorhomes. Lakeside locations are especially popular in Bavaria, with many sites offering direct water access, on-site restaurants and family-friendly facilities.
Bavaria's motorways (Autobahnen) are toll-free for campervans and motorhomes under 3.5 tonnes, though vehicles over 7.5 tonnes must use the Toll Collect system. While some stretches have no speed limit for cars, motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are restricted to 100 km/h on motorways and 80 km/h on rural roads. The A8, A9 and A7 are the main arteries connecting Munich, Nuremberg and the Alpine south. Rest areas with dedicated motorhome service points appear regularly along major routes, and mountain passes such as the B177 towards Austria are well signposted but may require snow chains in winter.
The experience was seemles from start to finish. Handover was very straightforward with all the major information required exchanged. Fabian the owner remained available during the trip for any issues that may arise. The vehicle was as advertised and in very good condition. Very nice camping caravan, equipped with everything that you could need. The return process was straightforward when returning vehicle. Also my car was kept securley stored at the location for arrival and drop off. Overall very good experience and i would highly recommend and use again in the future.
We really enjoyed our travels around Brittany in Clarisse's camper van. It was comfortable and easy to drive and had everything we needed for our holiday. Clarisse explained everything clearly to us before we set off.
A really positive experience from start to finish.

The hire experience was excellent throughout. The owners were very friendly, accommodating and easy to deal with. We had such a good trip. The van is really well looked after and a pleasure to drive. The owners helped with anything we were unsure of and even gave us tips on where to eat and park up. We would definitely hire through these owners again.
