Alaska's Denali National Park spans over 24,000 square kilometres and is home to North America's tallest peak, Denali, rising 6,190 metres above sea level. This vast state offers an extraordinary range of landscapes for road-tripping, from the fjords of Kenai Fjords National Park to the glacial valleys around Matanuska Glacier and the wildlife-rich waters of Resurrection Bay near Seward. The drive from Anchorage to Fairbanks covers roughly 580 km along the Parks Highway, while the journey from Valdez to Tok stretches around 400 km through some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in North America. Alaska's road network is well suited to campervan and motorhome travel, with long stretches of open highway, plentiful pull-offs for wildlife viewing, and campgrounds designed for larger vehicles. Coastal routes around the Kenai Peninsula wind past fishing towns and tidal flats, while interior roads lead through boreal forest and across wide river valleys. Whether you want to watch bears fishing for salmon at Katmai or photograph the northern lights from a quiet campsite near Chena Hot Springs, there is always something remarkable around the next bend. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan or motorhome directly from local owners across Alaska, giving you the flexibility to choose the vehicle that fits your trip — from compact campervans for couples to fully equipped motorhomes for families — all through a trusted peer-to-peer platform.
The best time to hire a campervan in Alaska runs from late May to mid-September, when daylight stretches well beyond twenty hours and roads such as the Denali Park Road are fully open. The Summer Solstice Festival in Fairbanks each June celebrates the longest day with live music and outdoor events, while the Alaska State Fair in Palmer runs through late August into early September. Book early for July and August — these are the most popular months. With Yescapa's peer-to-peer model, you can often find competitive pricing by browsing a range of local owners, and shoulder months like May or September offer quieter roads and excellent value.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.

Alaska offers a wide variety of campgrounds, from coastal sites with ocean views to forested spots near national parks. Many campgrounds provide electric hook-ups, water, dump stations, and toilet facilities suitable for both campervans and motorhomes. You will find sites spread right across the state, from the Kenai Peninsula in the south to the interior around Fairbanks, giving you plenty of options wherever your Alaska road trip takes you.
Alaska has no toll roads, so you can travel freely without worrying about charges. Speed limits on major highways such as the Parks Highway and the Seward Highway are typically 90–105 km/h for cars, though motorhomes and larger vehicles should keep to posted advisory speeds, especially on winding mountain sections. Many routes are two-lane roads with regular passing bays and scenic pull-offs. Fuel stations can be widely spaced in remote areas, so plan refuelling stops carefully — gaps of 150 km or more are common on the Alaska Highway and the Richardson Highway. Winter road conditions can affect some routes, but during the summer travel season most highways are well maintained and accessible for all vehicle sizes.
We hired Trina for 5 nights earlier this July. My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time on the island. Jandro was incredibly helpful, always on hand before and during the trip to answer any questions which really helped us navigate the island and enjoy our trip. The vehicle was fantastic, an incredible experience to drive. All the amenities were brilliant as well. I would highly recommend using Jandro and one of his vans for a fantastic Mallorca experience!
Communication with the owner was great, van was immaculate, heaps of choice, love the peer to peer concept. Easy to add an extra driver and ID checks were very thorough but straightforward. Changing dates wasn't so easy, the owner was great, but the process at the back end took some manual effort. Teething problems, not a big deal. Main area that needs improving (for me anyway) is the deposit. There was a single line in a table stating Deposit: cash or transfer, that I hadn't seen. The owner asked for the cash or a transfer when we were at the car, which he explained was normal process, but Yescapa could have explained beforehand. I transferred €2000 directly to the owner, which didn't feel comfortable. I had expected this would all be done via Yescapa. I ended up losing €45 in exchange rate variations + fees as well, the owner's bank had challenges which meant it to 5 days to get a lot of cash back. It was lucky we had that amount at hand. I would use Yescapa again. I hope they can tidy up and improve the processes though.
Very easy and open person… all went well , on time and with all the agremants.
Incredible time spent across the south of France with an incredible van! From beach, lakes, mountains and fields, it got me places I didn’t even pre conceive. Can’t speak more highly of my over all experience from van collection at train station to drop off. Drives smoother than my Suzuki jimny and can confirm very 6ft 4 friendly.
We had an amazing experience hiring Eli's campervan! It was perfect for our family of four – myself, my partner, and our two young daughters. The van was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed for our trip. It was easy to drive, well-equipped, and made exploring the malaga so much more enjoyable. The owners were friendly, helpful, and made the whole rental process smooth from start to finish. We made some unforgettable family memories and wouldn't hesitate to rent this campervan again. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a fun, comfortable, and hassle-free adventure in Spain. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We had a great experience. All went smoothly and the camper van was perfect. Mike was very accommodating and communicative throughout and we would recommend highly.
