Flanders stretches across 67 kilometres of North Sea coastline — the entire Belgian coast — making it one of Europe's most compact yet rewarding regions for a road trip. From the medieval belfry of Bruges, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to the bustling diamond district of Antwerp, roughly 100 km apart, Flanders packs centuries of history into a remarkably small area. You can drive from Ghent's Gravensteen castle to the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres in just 65 km, passing through flat polder landscapes ideal for campervans and motorhomes alike. The region's network of well-maintained roads and gentle terrain means you won't face steep gradients or tight mountain passes, so even larger vehicles handle the routes with ease. Flanders is also home to a thriving food culture — think Trappist breweries in Westmalle, chocolate shops in Brussels' neighbouring towns, and frituren (chip stands) on practically every corner. Art lovers can trace the Flemish Masters from the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp to the Groeningemuseum in Bruges, while nature enthusiasts will find peaceful cycling paths along the Scheldt estuary. With Yescapa, you hire your campervan or motorhome directly from local owners across Flanders, giving you the flexibility to collect your vehicle in Antwerp, Ghent, or smaller towns and set off at your own pace.
May to September is the prime window for exploring Flanders by campervan, with long daylight hours and comfortable temperatures for outdoor sightseeing. The Gentse Feesten in July transforms Ghent into a ten-day open-air festival of music, theatre, and street food — well worth planning your trip around. Autumn brings the Flanders Film Festival in October and quieter roads across the region. Through Yescapa, you can often find more competitive hire rates outside the peak summer months, thanks to flexible pricing set by individual owners. Booking a motorhome in spring lets you enjoy Hallerbos bluebell forest near Halle at its most spectacular, typically in mid-April.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
This 120 km route follows the full Belgian coastline from De Panne to Knokke-Heist over 3–5 days. Stop at Ostend's seafront promenade and the Atlantic Wall Museum in Raversijde. Flat roads and seaside campervan pitches make it a relaxed start to any Flanders trip.
Cover 150 km in 3–6 days around the Westhoek, visiting the In Flanders Fields Museum in Ypres and Tyne Cot Cemetery near Zonnebeke. Quiet country roads suit both campervans and motorhomes, with well-signed memorial routes throughout the region.
A 280 km loop linking Bruges, Ghent, and Antwerp over 5–8 days. Explore the Groeningemuseum, St Bavo's Cathedral, and the MAS museum. Campsites near each city centre offer motorhome service points, making this a comfortable cultural tour of Flanders.
Trace 350 km across Flanders in 5–8 days, calling at the Westmalle Trappist abbey, Brewery De Halve Maan in Bruges, and the hop fields around Poperinge. Rural roads are campervan-friendly, and many breweries offer adjacent parking for overnight stays.
This 500 km route over 7–11 days covers Flanders from coast to Campine. Start in Ostend, pass through Ghent and Leuven, then head north to the heathlands of Hoge Kempen National Park. Motorhome service areas are well spaced along the major roads.
A 600 km journey over 10–15 days following the River Scheldt from its tidal reaches near Antwerp through Dendermonde and Oudenaarde into the Flemish Ardennes. Expect gentle hills, riverside campsites, and plenty of space for larger motorhomes along the way.

Flanders offers a good spread of campsites, from coastal parks with sea views to inland sites surrounded by pine forest and heathland. Most sites provide electric hook-ups, dedicated motorhome service points, and modern shower and toilet blocks. Whether you're parking a compact campervan by the coast or settling a larger motorhome near one of Flanders' historic cities, you'll find pitches designed for a range of vehicle sizes.
Motorways in Flanders are toll-free, so you can travel the E40, E17, and E19 without any charges. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are 90 km/h on motorways and 60 km/h in built-up areas — always check your vehicle's weight class before setting off. Flanders' motorway network is famously well-lit at night, and rest areas with parking suitable for larger vehicles appear at regular intervals. Low-emission zones (LEZ) operate in Antwerp, Ghent, and Brussels, requiring registration for older vehicles. Road signage is in Dutch only, so a sat-nav set to your language is a practical addition.
We had an amazing trip! Rafaela and Carina were so kind, and we couldn’t recommend their van enough 🤩🙏🏼 The van had everything we needed for a proper “van life” experience, and you can also stay at campsites whenever you want!
We hired a motorhome from Cemil for a week to travel around Switzerland. We also visited France, Germany and Liechtenstein. Before the trip Cemil was helpful and responded to questions promptly. On the day of pick up he met us at the train station and the handover was smooth and quick. At the end if the trip it was also a very smooth transition and Cemil kindly drove us back to the airport. The van was great - very easy to drive and everything worked perfectly. All tolls and insurance were covered. We were very happy with the motorhome and would highly recommend renting from Cemil.
We had a great experience hiring this motorhome. Everything went smoothly and we had absolutely zero issues throughout our trip. Fernando kept us informed about everything from the beginning and was very friendly and helpful. He was also very flexible with both the pickup and drop-off times, which made everything much easier. The location is perfect, especially if you're arriving via Prague Airport. We travelled all the way to Hungary and back to Poland, staying at several off-grid locations along the way. We had an amazing time at Lake Balaton in Hungary and also loved our stay at the Pod Opaleńcem campsite in Świeradów-Zdrój, Poland. We would definitely recommend this motorhome hire and would happily rent from Fernando again!
Had a great time renting Dario's van. The pick-up was smooth and we were off and driving very quickly. Would highly recommend!
We went for a 7 days trip with 2 of my friends. It was an amazing time. Camper was really great - in a good condition, clean, comfortable. We did 1000km without any problems. I can recommend this car and Alvaro as a very nice owner.
