Wallonia's network of scenic river valleys stretches over 1,600 kilometres of navigable waterways, making it one of the densest inland water systems in Europe. From the forested hills of the Ardennes to the rolling farmland around Tournai, this southern region of Belgium offers a remarkably varied landscape for touring by road. The Citadel of Namur, perched above the confluence of the Sambre and Meuse rivers, provides a dramatic starting point, while the medieval town of Durbuy — often called the smallest city in the world — sits just 90 km to the south-east. Further south, the Caves of Han-sur-Lesse draw visitors underground into vast limestone chambers, and the Château de Bouillon, a fortress dating back over a thousand years, commands views across the Semois Valley. The distance from Mons in the west to Arlon near the Luxembourg border is roughly 190 km, crossing terrain that shifts from gentle plains to dense woodland. Roads through the Ardennes are well-maintained and wind through valleys that suit both campervans and larger motorhomes. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan directly from local owners based across Wallonia — in cities like Liège, Charleroi, and Namur — giving you the flexibility to start your trip close to the places you want to explore most.
May to October is ideal for a campervan trip through Wallonia, with long daylight hours and mild temperatures perfect for outdoor exploring. The Ducasse de Mons, a UNESCO-listed festival, takes place on Trinity Sunday in late May or June and is well worth timing your visit around. Autumn brings rich colour to the Ardennes forests, and the Wallonia Festival of gastronomy in Namur each September celebrates the region's local produce. Booking through Yescapa during spring or early autumn often means more competitive hire prices from private owners, along with quieter campsites and open roads across the region.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.

Wallonia offers a wide choice of campsites spread from the western plains around Mons to the wooded valleys of the Ardennes. Many sites provide dedicated pitches for both campervans and motorhomes, with electric hook-ups, fresh water points, and waste disposal facilities as standard. Riverside locations are especially popular, giving you easy access to walking trails and kayaking. Whether you prefer a quiet, nature-focused site or a family-friendly park with showers, laundry, and a small shop, Wallonia has you covered.
Wallonia's motorway network is toll-free, so you can travel freely without worrying about vignettes or toll booths. The E411 connects Brussels to Luxembourg via Namur and Arlon, while the E42 runs east–west from Mons to Liège. Speed limits for motorhomes under 3.5 tonnes match standard car limits at 120 km/h on motorways, but vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are restricted to 90 km/h. Rest areas with facilities for larger vehicles are well spaced along major routes. Roads through the Ardennes include some steeper gradients and tighter bends, so allow extra time if you are driving a larger motorhome.
great van a few interior problems but apart from that all good
check in took 1.40 hr! legible dirty outside with tape repairs to window and mirror paid for gas but when we got there found canister was empty and we had to replace ourselves
Everything was amazing
Great experience renting the Jimny. The owners were brilliant to deal with from start to finish, and the Jeep was in excellent condition. It was perfect for exploring the Algarve. Would definitely recommend and would happily rent from them again!
Clean, well-maintained vehicle that gave us so many great memories! We traveled to many places and drove around 900 km ourselves, and it handled everything flawlessly. Thanks to its size, parking was super easy, we could fit anywhere, and we were able to sleep in spots where a different kind of campervan wouldn't have worked. It is fully equipped with everything provided, even extra games for beach days! The bed and bedding were clean, and it has a really comfortable mattress. The owners were super nice and sweet. Everything went smoothly during both pickup and drop-off, and they were always there to help whenever we needed it, even when we got a bit lost! 😅 Plus point that they were super cool and easy to talk to. P.S. The AC works like a charm!
Sergey's van is great. Really spacious, easy to drive. We had a great trip. Sergey was really nice helpful and was on hand to help with any questions during the trip. He even gave us a lift to the train station in Ljubljana! Would 100% recommend.
