Camping around Uluru and the Red Centre ranges from well-equipped caravan parks to remote bush sites under vast outback skies. Most parks near Yulara and Alice Springs offer powered sites, dump points, and amenities suited to both campervans and motorhomes. Further afield, basic camping areas along the Lasseter and Luritja highways let you experience the quiet of the desert with minimal facilities. Booking ahead during the cooler season is recommended for popular sites near Uluru.
The Stuart Highway connects Alice Springs to the south and Darwin to the north, forming the main arterial route through the Northern Territory. From Alice Springs, the Lasseter Highway runs west for around 245 km to Yulara and Uluru. There are no toll roads in the region. Speed limits for motorhomes under 4.5 tonnes generally match standard vehicle limits — 130 km/h on the Stuart Highway in the Northern Territory. Fuel stops can be widely spaced, so plan refuelling carefully, especially on the Lasseter and Luritja highways where distances between service stations can exceed 200 km.
We had an absolutely fabulous stay in this van, Bruno met us at the ferry port and the process was very easy and smooth! The van was perfect and had everything we needed, Bruno went above and beyond and provided bedding towels etc it was fab!
