Why hire a campervan or motorhome in Territories

Territories — a region worth exploring

The Terres de l'Ebre region spans over 3,300 square kilometres across southern Catalonia, where the River Ebro carves its way to the Mediterranean through one of Europe's most important wetland systems. The Ebro Delta Natural Park protects 7,736 hectares of rice paddies, lagoons and salt marshes that host more than 300 bird species throughout the year. Inland, the Els Ports Natural Park rises to 1,447 metres at Mont Caro, offering rugged limestone landscapes and ancient holm oak forests. From the fishing town of L'Ampolla to the medieval hilltop village of Horta de Sant Joan — where Picasso painted during two formative stays — the region packs remarkable variety into a compact area. The drive from Tortosa, the historic capital, to the coastal town of Sant Carles de la Ràpita covers just 30 km, while the route from Tortosa inland to the mountain village of Arnes is roughly 65 km. Quiet country roads wind through olive groves and vineyards in the Terra Alta comarca, and the flat delta roads are ideal for leisurely touring. Whether you prefer a compact campervan for navigating narrow village streets or a larger motorhome for extended stays by the coast, Yescapa connects you directly with local owners across the Terres de l'Ebre. You can hire a vehicle that suits your plans, collect it nearby and set off to explore this wonderfully diverse corner of Catalonia at your own pace.

Best time to visit

Spring and autumn are particularly rewarding times to hire a campervan in the Terres de l'Ebre. From March to May, the Ebro Delta teems with migrating flamingos and herons, and the rice fields flood to create mirror-like landscapes. September and October bring the rice harvest festival in Amposta and comfortable temperatures for hiking in Els Ports. Summer is the busiest season along the coast, so booking your Yescapa motorhome early gives you the widest choice of vehicles and competitive peer-to-peer prices. Winter remains mild near the coast, making it a peaceful time for birdwatching.

This was an excellent campervan for our party of 4 adults (and can easily sleep 6). Everything we used in the van was great and worked well. The large fridge/freezer and awning was helpful. Toilet and shower worked well. João was great throughout the whole process. He was really quick and helpful in all his communications before the trip, and during check-in he was really thorough with explaining all of the van's systems (even though we didn't speak Portuguese). We had a minor accident, and João was very reasonable and fair about the repairs. All together a very good experience, thank you!
