Southern Austria offers a wide choice of campsites, from lakeside pitches in Carinthia to forested sites in the Styrian hills. Many are equipped with full electric hook-ups, modern shower and toilet blocks, and dedicated service areas for both campervans and motorhomes. Whether you prefer a spot beside the Millstätter See or a quieter base near the vineyards of southern Styria, you will find well-maintained facilities spread right across the region.
In Austria, you need a valid motorway vignette to use the Autobahn and Schnellstraße network. For vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, a GO-Box toll device is required instead. The speed limit on motorways is 130 km/h for cars, but motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are restricted to 80 km/h on rural roads and 100 km/h on motorways. Some alpine routes in southern Austria, including the Großglockner High Alpine Road and the Tauern Tunnel, charge separate tolls. Rest areas with dedicated motorhome service points are well spaced along the A2 and A10 corridors through Styria and Carinthia.
