New York's iconic grid system stretches across five boroughs covering 783 square kilometres, making it one of the most densely packed cities on the planet. From the 340-metre-high observation deck at the Empire State Building to the winding paths of Central Park, there is no shortage of landmarks to take in before hitting the open road. The Statue of Liberty, standing on Liberty Island in New York Harbour, has welcomed visitors since 1886, while the Brooklyn Bridge — completed in 1883 — connects Manhattan to Brooklyn across the East River. Culture lovers can spend hours at the Metropolitan Museum of Art or catch a show along the Broadway theatre district. Beyond the city limits, the landscape opens up quickly: the beaches of Long Island begin roughly 60 km to the east, and the forested trails of Harriman State Park lie just 70 km to the north. Flat, well-maintained highways radiate outward in every direction, giving you easy access to coastal drives, mountain routes and lakeside retreats in a motorhome or campervan. With Yescapa, you hire directly from local owners across the New York area, which means flexible pick-up points, personal tips on the best routes and competitive pricing through our peer-to-peer platform. Whether you are planning a weekend escape to the Hudson Valley or a longer campervan adventure along the Atlantic coast, New York is a brilliant launchpad for your next road trip.
New York is a year-round destination, but late spring through to early autumn offers the longest days for driving and exploring. The Tribeca Film Festival in June fills Lower Manhattan with energy, while the US Open tennis tournament lights up Queens every August and September. Summer is the most popular season for campervan travel, so booking your hire on Yescapa early helps you secure the best choice of vehicles from local owners. Autumn brings spectacular foliage along routes heading north from New York, ideal for a motorhome tour through the Hudson Valley. Winter and early spring are quieter on the roads, with great availability and flexible pricing.

Camping options around New York range from waterfront pitches with skyline views to peaceful woodland sites in the surrounding countryside. Most campsites within easy reach of the city offer electric hook-ups, fresh-water points, shower blocks and waste-disposal facilities suitable for both campervans and motorhomes. Booking ahead during summer is a good idea, as sites closest to New York fill up quickly with weekend travellers.
Parking a larger vehicle in New York requires a bit of planning. Street parking for motorhomes and campervans is heavily restricted across Manhattan, with height limits and alternate-side rules in force. Overnight sleeping in a vehicle on public streets is not permitted in most boroughs. Your best bet is to use dedicated facilities on the city's outskirts and travel in by public transport. Always check signage for height clearances before entering any car park.
Everyting more than perfect, happy to welcome you again!
Amazing renters, welcome again )
We rented this camper van for a two-week trip through the Alps and southern france, it was fantastic from start to finish. The van was reliable and easy to drive, even on the steep, winding alpine mountain roads. It also performed exceptionally well on the motorways, with cruise control making the longer journeys comfortable and stress-free. The layout was perfect for two people. The rear seating folds out to a bed and pop-top roof bed provided plenty of space and privacy when sleeping. During the day, the seating area and well-equipped kitchen made the van feel comfortable and practical, while the retractable awning was great for relaxing outside on warm evenings. The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming. On arrival, they took the time to explain all the features of the van and made sure we were comfortable before setting off. The return process was just as easy and straightforward. Overall, this is a fantastic camper van owned by a lovely family. We had an amazing trip and would highly recommend both the van and its owners to anyone looking for a memorable campervan adventure. We would happily rent from them again in the future.
Incredibly easy- Hector was there to talk us through everything. He was happy to answer all of our questions and gave us excellent practical advice. We felt fully supported abd it gave us a real confidence boost when we took control of the camper. We had to contact Hector during out trip sbout the van and he was on hand and easy to engage with. Ditto with our drop off. We loved using the camper: it was confortable and easily accommodated our family of 5 (including two teenagers!). It was a wonderful way to explore the Basque Country and we would definitely be up for doing it again.
Tuvimos una gran semana con la furgo, yo y dos hijos adultos. El dueño Samu fue de mucha ayuda por mensajes de texto para extra preguntas mientras estuvimos fuera, y nos llevó a la estación después de devolver la furgo
We had a lovely trip. The van has absolutely everything you need, and Pedro and Davids were so helpful and kind. Would recommend this van!
