Why choose Nashville for your road trip

Nashville — a city worth exploring

Nashville's full-scale replica of the Parthenon, built in 1897 and still standing in Centennial Park, makes it the only city outside Greece to house a complete recreation of the ancient temple. Known worldwide as Music City, Nashville offers far more than its legendary honky-tonks on Broadway. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum traces the genre's roots through interactive exhibits, while the Ryman Auditorium — the original home of the Grand Ole Opry — remains one of the finest live music venues in the country. Beyond the music, the Frist Art Museum occupies a striking Art Deco former post office, and the Tennessee State Capitol sits on a hill overlooking the Cumberland River. Knoxville lies roughly 180 km to the east, and Chattanooga is about 215 km to the south-east, both making excellent additions to a longer road trip. Nashville's grid of wide boulevards and surrounding interstate highways make it straightforward to navigate in a larger vehicle, though the rolling hills of Middle Tennessee reward those who venture onto quieter state roads. With Yescapa, you hire a campervan or motorhome directly from local owners who know the area well. That peer-to-peer approach means you can pick up your vehicle close to the city centre and get tailored tips on the best routes, overnight spots and local favourites before you even hit the road.

Best time to visit

Nashville is enjoyable year-round, with each season bringing its own appeal. The CMA Fest in June fills the city with live music across multiple outdoor stages, while the Tennessee State Fair in September celebrates local culture and food. Spring and autumn are particularly pleasant for campervan travel, with comfortable temperatures and quieter campsites. Summer is the most popular season, so booking your motorhome early through Yescapa gives you the widest choice of vehicles from local owners at competitive peer-to-peer prices. Winter brings a festive atmosphere and fewer crowds, ideal for exploring Nashville at a relaxed pace.

Where to park your motorhome

Parking a larger vehicle in Nashville requires a little planning, but several options cater to oversized vehicles. Street parking in the downtown area is generally unsuitable for motorhomes and campervans due to size restrictions and metered bays. Dedicated lots near major venues often accommodate larger vehicles during events. Always check signage for height and length limits before parking. Overnight parking on public streets is not permitted in most central areas, so plan to return to a campsite or designated facility for the night.

  • Nashville Fairgrounds Parking, 4km south — Large open lot south of downtown with space for oversized vehicles. Often available on non-event days. Check the Fairgrounds schedule before arriving.
  • Nissan Stadium Lot, 2km east — Spacious parking area on the east bank of the Cumberland River. Suitable for larger vehicles on non-game days. Walking distance to Broadway via the pedestrian bridge.
  • Two Rivers Campground Parking, 10km northeast — Dedicated parking for campground guests with easy access to Briley Parkway. A convenient base for day trips into central Nashville.

We hired this camper Asier for our family holiday through Spain and France, what a great van it is with everything you need. Asier is very friendly and helpful even though there was a language barrier. We would definitely use again if we needed to.

Mario was very helpful and supported us with this new experience. The vehicle was basically brand new and while there were some minor problems with cupboard doors, it was a very well equipped and comfortable van for 2 adults and two children of 10 and 13 years old. Highly recommended!

We had a fantastic experience renting Gilbert’s campervan and would highly recommend him to anyone looking to book through Yescapa. Everything was easy and straightforward from the initial booking right through to collecting the campervan. Gilbert was incredibly friendly and welcoming and took plenty of time to show us around the campervan and explain how everything worked before we set off. My spoken French is very limited, but Gilbert was extremely patient and accommodating, and with the help of translation apps we were able to make both the collection and handover really easy and smooth. The campervan was great and had everything we needed for our family adventure around Brittany. This was our first ever campervan holiday, and we absolutely loved the experience. A big thank you to Gilbert and his wife for being so welcoming and helpful. We would definitely recommend renting from Gilbert and would happily book his campervan again in the future!
