Melbourne Airport, officially known as Tullamarine Airport, handles over 37 million passengers each year and sits just 23 kilometres north-west of Melbourne's central business district, making it an ideal launchpad for a campervan or motorhome adventure across Victoria. From the terminal, you can reach the Great Ocean Road's starting point at Torquay in roughly 120 kilometres, while the Yarra Valley wine region is only about 80 kilometres to the east. The airport's location on the Tullamarine Freeway gives you swift access to the Western Ring Road and the Hume Freeway, connecting you to destinations such as the Grampians National Park, Phillip Island, and the alpine villages of Mount Buller and Falls Creek. Victoria's compact geography means you can explore dramatic coastline, dense rainforest, and rolling farmland all within a few days' drive. Whether you fancy the Twelve Apostles along the Great Ocean Road or the penguin parade on Phillip Island, picking up a campervan near Melbourne Airport puts everything within easy reach. With Yescapa, you hire directly from local owners across the Melbourne region, choosing from a range of campervans and motorhomes that suit your group size and travel style. It is a peer-to-peer approach that often means more flexible pick-up arrangements and competitive pricing compared with traditional hire depots.
The best time to hire a campervan near Melbourne Airport is from November to April, when Victoria enjoys warm, settled weather ideal for coastal and alpine touring. The Melbourne Cup Carnival in early November draws visitors from around the world, while the Australian Open in January makes the city buzz with energy. Summer months from December to February are peak season, so booking your motorhome through Yescapa early helps you secure the best choice of vehicles at competitive peer-to-peer prices. Autumn, from March to May, brings cooler days and golden foliage through the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges — a quieter period with excellent availability.

Victoria offers a wide variety of campsites within easy reach of Melbourne Airport, from beachside parks along the Great Ocean Road to bush retreats in the Grampians. Most sites cater to both campervans and motorhomes with powered pitches, dump points, and modern amenity blocks. Whether you prefer a coastal setting with ocean breezes or a quiet spot among the gum trees, you will find well-maintained facilities spread right across the state.
Victoria's freeway network radiating from Melbourne Airport is toll-free beyond the CityLink corridor, which uses electronic tolling — you need a pass or temporary visitor account before driving on it. Motorhomes and campervans under 4.6 metres in height travel at standard car toll rates, while taller vehicles incur higher charges. Speed limits on Victorian freeways are generally 110 km/h for cars, but vehicles over 4.5 tonnes are restricted to 100 km/h. The Western Ring Road and Hume Freeway are well-serviced with rest areas featuring dump points and overnight parking bays, particularly useful on longer trips north towards the Murray River.
great van a few interior problems but apart from that all good
check in took 1.40 hr! legible dirty outside with tape repairs to window and mirror paid for gas but when we got there found canister was empty and we had to replace ourselves
Everything was amazing
Great experience renting the Jimny. The owners were brilliant to deal with from start to finish, and the Jeep was in excellent condition. It was perfect for exploring the Algarve. Would definitely recommend and would happily rent from them again!
Clean, well-maintained vehicle that gave us so many great memories! We traveled to many places and drove around 900 km ourselves, and it handled everything flawlessly. Thanks to its size, parking was super easy, we could fit anywhere, and we were able to sleep in spots where a different kind of campervan wouldn't have worked. It is fully equipped with everything provided, even extra games for beach days! The bed and bedding were clean, and it has a really comfortable mattress. The owners were super nice and sweet. Everything went smoothly during both pickup and drop-off, and they were always there to help whenever we needed it, even when we got a bit lost! 😅 Plus point that they were super cool and easy to talk to. P.S. The AC works like a charm!
Sergey's van is great. Really spacious, easy to drive. We had a great trip. Sergey was really nice helpful and was on hand to help with any questions during the trip. He even gave us a lift to the train station in Ljubljana! Would 100% recommend.
