Why choose Malmö for your road trip

Malmö — a city worth exploring

Malmö's Turning Torso twists 190 metres above the harbour, making it Scandinavia's tallest residential building and a landmark visible from across the Øresund strait. The city sits at Sweden's southernmost tip, where flat coastal plains and long sandy beaches make it wonderfully easy to navigate by road. Stroll through Malmöhus Castle, one of the oldest Renaissance castles in the Nordic region, then wander the cobbled lanes of Lilla Torg square for local food and craft shops. The Moderna Museet Malmö showcases contemporary art in a former power station, while Ribersborgs Kallbadhus — an open-air bathhouse on the sea — offers year-round swimming. Copenhagen lies just 42 km west across the Øresund Bridge, and the university city of Lund is only 20 km to the north-east, giving you two easy day-trip options. Malmö's compact layout and generous coastal roads suit both campervans and larger motorhomes, with well-signed routes leading out towards the rolling farmland of Skåne. When you hire through Yescapa, you connect directly with local owners who know the best spots around Malmö — from quiet seaside stops to scenic countryside lanes. It is a practical, peer-to-peer way to pick up a campervan right where your trip begins, saving time and giving you insider tips before you even turn the key.

Best time to visit

Malmö is enjoyable from late spring through to early autumn. The Malmö Festival in August fills the city with free concerts, street food and family events, making it a brilliant time to visit. In June, midsummer celebrations bring colour and tradition to parks across the region. Summer days are long and bright, ideal for exploring by campervan along the Skåne coastline. If you prefer quieter roads and campsites, May and September are excellent choices. Hiring through Yescapa gives you access to peer-to-peer pricing, which can be especially favourable outside peak months. Book your motorhome a few weeks ahead for summer to secure the best selection from Malmö-based owners.

Where to park your motorhome

Malmö has several large car parks that can accommodate campervans and motorhomes, though height restrictions apply in some multi-storey facilities — always check clearance before entering. On-street parking in the city centre is metered and generally limited to standard vehicles. Overnight parking in a campervan is permitted at designated areas and campsites but not on public streets. Arrive early during summer weekends to secure a space near popular attractions.

  • Malmö Arena Parking, 5km southeast — Large open car park beside Malmö Arena in Hyllie. Good clearance for motorhomes and campervans. Close to Emporia shopping centre and Hyllie station.

I had the most wonderful trip in Eve’s van. It has everything you need, a great sized fridge, a large comfy bed, cooking equipment, electrics to be off grid, a great shower & toilet. The van ran very smoothly and was a perfect size even driving through the towns was no problem at all. They were very accommodating, helping me with local tip and recommendations. I’d 100% recommend this van to anyone thinking of taking a road trip, you won’t regret it :)

Inigio and his lovely girlfriend looked after Dolly for one week here in the Algarve area. They brought her back clean and in really good shape. Before and during the rental period we had a very good dialogue. I can highly reccomend them to lend your car. :-)

Fantastic experience. Raul really went above and beyond to help us out and was always responsive with any queries we had. The van was in excellent condition, had everything we needed, and was ideal for our trip into the Pyrenees, plus heading south for the solar eclipse. Would highly recommend.
