Le Havre's city centre was rebuilt after 1945 by architect Auguste Perret and earned UNESCO World Heritage status in 2005, making it one of the few modern cities on the list. Sitting at the mouth of the Seine estuary on the Normandy coast, Le Havre is France's second-largest port and a gateway to some of the country's most celebrated landscapes. You can stroll through the Musée d'Art Moderne André Malraux (MuMa), which holds the largest collection of Impressionist paintings outside Paris, then head to the striking Église Saint-Joseph, whose 107-metre concrete bell tower doubles as a memorial and a landmark visible from far out at sea. The Jardins Suspendus, set inside a former hilltop fort, offer panoramic views across the English Channel, while the pebbly beach along the Boulevard Albert Ier stretches for two kilometres right beside the town centre. Étretat and its famous chalk cliffs sit just 30 km to the north-east, and the charming harbour of Honfleur is only 24 km across the Pont de Normandie. The flat coastal roads and well-signed routes make the area easy to navigate in a campervan or motorhome. With Yescapa, you can hire directly from local owners in Le Havre, which means flexible pick-up points and genuine tips on the best spots along the Alabaster Coast. Whether you are planning a weekend by the sea or a longer loop through Normandy, Le Havre is a practical and rewarding starting point for your campervan adventure.
Le Havre enjoys long, mild summers ideal for coastal touring. June to September is the busiest period, when the seafront promenade comes alive and campsites along the Normandy coast welcome plenty of visitors — book your campervan early through Yescapa to lock in the best choice from local owners. The city hosts Les Grandes Marées festival each summer, with open-air concerts and street performances along the waterfront. In autumn, the Foire du Havre in October draws crowds with fairground rides and local produce. Shoulder months like May and early October offer quieter roads and comfortable driving weather, perfect for a motorhome trip along the coast.
Le Havre is the perfect base for exploring the region by motorhome or campervan. Here are our 6 must-see getaways
Head 30 km north-east from Le Havre along the D940 to reach the iconic chalk arches of Étretat. Walk the Falaise d'Aval and visit the Jardins d'Étretat perched above the cliffs. Campervan parking is available at the dedicated aire on the edge of town, so you can settle in and explore on foot.
Cross the Pont de Normandie and arrive in Honfleur just 24 km south of Le Havre. Wander the Vieux Bassin harbour and visit the wooden Église Sainte-Catherine. The surrounding Pays d'Auge countryside is dotted with cider farms — ideal for a leisurely motorhome tour over a few days.
Follow the Seine valley 90 km east from Le Havre to Rouen, Normandy's historic capital. Explore the Cathédrale Notre-Dame painted by Monet and stroll through the medieval Rue du Gros-Horloge. Several campervan stopovers line the river route, letting you break the journey at your own pace.
Travel 180 km south-east from Le Havre to visit Monet's house and gardens at Giverny, then continue to the Château de Versailles. This route traces the Seine through Vernon and the Île-de-France, with well-equipped aires along the way for overnight stops in your campervan.
Drive 260 km west from Le Havre through the Normandy bocage to reach the tidal island of Mont-Saint-Michel. Stop at Bayeux to see the famous Tapestry and the D-Day landing beaches at Omaha and Utah. Motorhome parking is well organised at the Mont's mainland visitor hub.
Set off 350 km south-west from Le Havre towards Saint-Malo's walled old town and the Emerald Coast. Pause at Granville for fresh seafood and views of the Chausey Islands. Campsites along the Breton coastline are plentiful, making this a comfortable week-long motorhome adventure.

In the city itself you will find sites with full hook-ups and modern amenities, while just outside town the clifftop and seaside pitches provide direct access to the Normandy shoreline. Most sites around Le Havre feature electric connections, water points, waste disposal, showers and Wi-Fi, so you can stay connected and comfortable throughout your trip.

Height barriers apply at some covered car parks, so check clearance before entering. Street parking for larger vehicles is limited in the centre, but the port area and stadium zone offer spacious alternatives.
The best experience ever!! Amazing van and amazing people who run it
Muchas gracias. Gary y Michelle
Lovely experience and fantastic van. Clean and worked very well. Leonardo and Eleanora were very friendly and helpful. One small feedback is the fridge did not work very well but otherwise its a great van.
Muy buena experiencia. Ana nos ha tratado muy bien.
Proprietários espetaculares e super atenciosos. Autocaravana estava impecável, super confortável, excelente condução. Painéis solares dão autonomia total. Tudo impecável.
We had an amazing trip! Rafaela and Carina were so kind, and we couldn’t recommend their van enough 🤩🙏🏼 The van had everything we needed for a proper “van life” experience, and you can also stay at campsites whenever you want!
