Lake Geneva stretches 73 kilometres from Geneva in the west to the Château de Chillon near Montreux in the east, making it the largest lake in Western Europe and a natural border between Switzerland and France. The crescent-shaped shoreline links cosmopolitan cities, terraced vineyards and Alpine foothills in a single sweep you can follow at your own pace. From Lausanne's Olympic Museum on the northern shore, it is roughly 100 kilometres east to the spa town of Évian-les-Bains on the French side, with ferry crossings connecting the two coasts throughout the year. The Lavaux vineyard terraces, a UNESCO World Heritage Site between Lausanne and Vevey, cascade down to the waterfront and are best appreciated from the narrow lanes that wind through the vines. Further inland, the medieval town of Yvoire on the French shore and the Jet d'Eau fountain in Geneva harbour give the region a mix of history and spectacle that rewards slow travel. Roads around the lake are well-maintained and mostly flat, with gentle climbs into the Jura hills to the north and steeper routes towards the Valais Alps to the south-east, suiting both campervans and larger motorhomes. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan directly from local owners based across the Lake Geneva region, choosing from compact vans for vineyard lanes to fully equipped vehicles for longer Alpine detours.
The Lake Geneva region is enjoyable from spring right through to autumn. May and June bring warm days ideal for driving the Lavaux vineyard roads, while the Montreux Jazz Festival in July draws music lovers from around the world and fills the lakeside promenades with energy. September and October are perfect for harvest season, when local wine cellars open their doors and campsite availability is generous. Hiring a campervan through Yescapa's peer-to-peer platform often means more competitive pricing outside the peak summer weeks, and owners in the Lake Geneva area can offer flexible pick-up arrangements to suit your schedule. Book ahead for July and August to secure the best choice of vehicles.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.

The Lake Geneva region offers campsites spread along both the Swiss and French shores, from waterfront pitches with direct lake access to quieter spots in the vineyard hills. Most sites provide full hook-ups, waste disposal and fresh-water stations for campervans and motorhomes alike. Whether you prefer a base near a lively town like Lausanne or a peaceful setting among the Valais vineyards, you will find well-maintained facilities across the Lake Geneva area.
Switzerland's motorways require a vignette, an annual sticker costing CHF 40 (roughly £35), valid for all vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes. Motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes pay a distance-based heavy vehicle charge instead. On Swiss motorways the speed limit for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes is 80 km/h, while lighter campervans may travel at 120 km/h. The A1 connects Geneva to Lausanne and continues east, and the French A40 runs along the southern shore. Rest areas with motorhome service points appear regularly on both sides of the lake. On the French network, tolls apply on certain autoroute sections and can be paid by card at the barrier.
Everything like on description and good communication with the owner. We had a lovely time! Thank you :))

Everything went great!!! The van is amazingly equipped, Sérgio is always available and kind, great experience!!
Very enjoyable experience, the van was very comfortable, well equipped..dealing with Yescapa was seamless and the van owners very friendly and helpful, they went out of their way for us.
This was an excellent campervan for our party of 4 adults (and can easily sleep 6). Everything we used in the van was great and worked well. The large fridge/freezer and awning was helpful. Toilet and shower worked well. João was great throughout the whole process. He was really quick and helpful in all his communications before the trip, and during check-in he was really thorough with explaining all of the van's systems (even though we didn't speak Portuguese). We had a minor accident, and João was very reasonable and fair about the repairs. All together a very good experience, thank you!
We had an absolutely fabulous stay in this van, Bruno met us at the ferry port and the process was very easy and smooth! The van was perfect and had everything we needed, Bruno went above and beyond and provided bedding towels etc it was fab!
