Centre-Val de Loire is home to over 300 châteaux along the Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site stretching across 280 kilometres of river landscape. From the grandeur of Château de Chambord, with its 440 rooms and iconic double-helix staircase, to the elegant gardens of Château de Villandry, this region rewards slow, unhurried exploration. The distance from Tours to Orléans is roughly 115 kilometres, while Bourges to Chartres covers around 200 kilometres, giving you a sense of the region's manageable scale for a road trip. Beyond the châteaux, Centre-Val de Loire offers the vast Sologne forest, the medieval streets of old Chartres beneath its famous cathedral, and the gentle vineyards of Vouvray and Chinon. The terrain is largely flat or gently rolling, which makes driving a motorhome or campervan straightforward and relaxing. Riverside aires and well-maintained campsites are dotted along the Loire and its tributaries, so you can park up close to the water and cycle along the Loire à Vélo route. With Yescapa, you hire your campervan directly from local owners across Centre-Val de Loire, choosing from a range of vehicles to suit your group and your plans. It is a practical, personal way to discover a region shaped by rivers, history, and some of France's finest food and wine.
Centre-Val de Loire is wonderful from late April through to October. Spring brings the château gardens into bloom, and May is ideal for quieter roads and open campsites. Summer is the busiest period, with events like the Festival de Sully et du Loiret running from June into July, filling historic venues with classical music. Autumn offers harvest season across the Vouvray and Touraine vineyards, plus warm colours along the Loire. Yescapa's peer-to-peer model means you can often find competitive prices even in peak months, and booking a campervan outside July and August gives you more flexibility and choice across Centre-Val de Loire.

Centre-Val de Loire offers a wide choice of campsites spread along the Loire and its tributaries, from well-equipped municipal sites to leafy woodland parks in the Sologne. Most provide dedicated motorhome service points with fresh water and waste disposal, alongside spacious pitches with electrical hook-ups for campervans. Many sites sit within easy reach of the major châteaux, and several offer direct river access, cycle hire, and family-friendly facilities across Centre-Val de Loire.
Centre-Val de Loire is well connected by the A10 motorway linking Tours and Orléans to Paris, and the A71 running south towards Bourges. Both are toll roads, payable by card or cash at péage barriers. Motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are classed as category 2 vehicles and pay higher tolls. Speed limits for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are 110 km/h on motorways and 80 km/h on single-carriageway roads. The region's national and departmental roads are generally wide and well surfaced, making them a pleasant alternative to toll routes for campervans and motorhomes alike.
Very helpful owner and great vehicle! Had a great time in the Mundaka.
It was a pleasure dealimg with Alain. The Motorhome was in good condition and Alain was very helpful at pick up and drop off ensuring we knew how everything worked.
We had a great time in the motorhome. Jean Pierre was very friendly and professional. We were shown how everything works before setting off. We would definitely recommend hiring this vehicle. Jean Pierre only speaks French but with the aid of a translator app and his son it worked out absolutely fine. Thanks again Jean-Pierre.
Frederic was excellent. Easy to contact and helpful at all times. The whole experience was a joy.
Fantastic, we were welcomed and everything was fantastic.
We hired this camper Asier for our family holiday through Spain and France, what a great van it is with everything you need. Asier is very friendly and helpful even though there was a language barrier. We would definitely use again if we needed to.
