Due to the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Europe, Yescapa is following the World Health Organisation in regards to the security measures to adopt. Why we are adapting our cancellation policy to allow you to postpone your booking to future dates.
If your departure dates fall before the 15/09/2020, you may postpone your trip: to do so, your current hire will be cancelled and your rental credit will allow you to send a new booking request, for your chosen future dates.
All hires with departures falling before or on the 15/09/2020 will be cancelled due to COVID-19 if one of the parties, renter or owner, wishes for it to be. Please proceed as follows:
Renters can cancel directly from their profile, by clicking on My Trips > select the hire concerned > Cancel > COVID-19 cancellation.
Owners must first contact renters concerning a cancellation, then contact our team at email@example.com indicating their booking reference.
If your departure falls after the 15/09/2020, the general terms of cancellation applyas mentioned in our Terms and Conditions. However, on a case by case basis, your reason for cancellation will be analysed, such as:
Otherwise, please contact our team by email indicating your booking reference, the exact reason for your cancellation along with any supporting documents such as invoices or emails. Without this information, your cancellation request will not be processed.
The applicable cancellation policy allows the renter to benefit from a rental credit that can be used in several instalments on future rentals confirmed within 18 months of the cancellation of the initial rental.
This rental credit is of the same amount as the service fees and the rental insurance of the cancelled rental. Its amount can also include the owner's remuneration, depending on the cancellation preference of the latter:
Each owner can determine their preference for managing their remuneration in the event of a cancellation for the "Covid-19" reason. Depending on the choice indicated by the owner via their profile, the amount of the owner remuneration may be refunded to the renter, or, stored in the form of rental credit, usable on one of the vehicles of the same owner, valid for one or multiple rentals, confirmed within 18 months of the cancellation of the initial rental.
The renter will be informed of the cancellation terms applicable to their rental when requesting cancellation.
The rental credit allows you to travel on later dates, and will automatically be deducted from the amount of the new rental according to the corresponding terms (see next section).
As the cancellation insurance is offered by an external entity to Yescapa, if you have subscribed to this insurance, the amount paid will not be reimbursed.
Rental credit terms
The rental credit allows you to travel later and can be used several times. The credit is noted on the renter's profile in My account> Credit Location.
This rental credit will be deducted from the price of the next rental. If the rental credit contains an amount corresponding to the remuneration of an owner, this credit will be valid only on one of the vehicles of the same owner and on the total amount of the new rental. If the rental credit only contains an amount corresponding to the insurance and service fees, then this credit will be valid on the rental of any vehicle registered on Yescapa and limited to the payment of the service fees and rental insurance parts of the new rental.
The effective period of validity of the rental credit is 18 months maximum, from the date of cancellation of the initial hire. The actual travel dates may be later than the 18 months of validity provided that confirmation by full payment of the hire takes place before the expiration date of the rental credit.
The new rental rate may vary depending on the rental and insurance rates applicable for the new period. In the event that the rental credit is not sufficient to cover the amount of the new rental, the remaining amount will be charged to the renter. If, on the contrary, the rental credit is greater than the total amount of the future rental, the balance of the rental credit is retained and will be usable on a following rental.
If a renter or owner cancels a hire following these terms, both parties will be notified by email.
Terms regarding owners
When cancelling an eligible rental, vehicles owners do not incur any cancellation penalty and their positive response rate will not be affected. Each owner must define their preference for the management of their remuneration by indicating this on their profile. If owners do not select an option on their profile, a default setting will apply to their remuneration in the event of a cancellation due to COVID-19. All cancellations related to COVID-19 initiated by the owner will result in an automatic refund of their planned remuneration, no matter what they opted for on their profile. In the event that the owner would want to cancel a rental related to COVID-19, outside of dates covered by our policy, the latter will not receive their remuneration. If the owner sells their vehicle, the renter will be able to choose between a rental credit of the total amount of the hire to be used on all vehicles available on the platform, or, a total refund of the initial hire.
Use of gift cards
If the payment of the hire was made with a gift card, the renter will receive a rental credit of the initial amount of the gift card valid 18 months after the date of cancellation of the hire. For all gift cards purchased in the last 6 months (from 13/03/2020), the use-by date of the gift card will be extended by 3 months.

If your booking is eligible to COVID-19, the terms of cancellation highlighted here, are prioritized over the usual cancellation terms mentioned on the website.
